Master Data & Privacy Statement
1. Who we are
Scout & Swan (trading name of Little Ears Records Ltd) builds and operates software products, including RidgeLine. This statement explains how we think about data across everything we do — the short version. The detail sits in the linked policies below.
2. Our position, in one sentence
We design for privacy by default: we collect the minimum needed to make a product work, we're explicit about what that minimum is, and we don't treat "we could technically see it" as the same thing as "we should store it."
3. What this covers
This statement is the index and not the whole answer. We separate three elements separate so we can answer different questions:
- What our products do with your data — covered in the Product Data Processing Policy. This is about the software you use.
- What we do with your data when we're working with you commercially — covered in the Sales & Marketing / CRM Data Policy. This is about us as a vendor running a sales process, not the product.
- How we protect data technically — covered in Data Security & Identity Protection Provisions.
If you're signing up, the General-Use Data Processing Agreement is the contract that binds all of the above.
4. Self-service tiers - what we can and can't protect without an Enterprise tenant
Our self-serve tiers give you real privacy-by-design protection: minimal data collection, no code storage, UK data residency. What they don't give you is the heavier machinery an Enterprise agreement can include: dedicated tenancy, extended audit evidence export, and negotiated data-handling terms. If your organisation has specific regulatory, works-council, or data-residency requirements beyond what's described here, talk to us before you rely on the self-serve tier to meet them.
